The Full Story

The Delinquent Bike

A tender, true-to-life story told by a bicycle with a past. “It’s true — I am a delinquent by definition. I’ve been picked up by the police and put in jail. Not once, but three times.”

The Delinquent Bike

Meet a bright red bicycle who has lived a full life — from proudly shining in a shop window in Columbus, Ohio, to wild rides, scraped wheels, forgotten nights, police lock-ups, and long waits in dark storerooms.

Meet the Author

Patricia Corbari was born in 1933 in Chicago, where she grew up with a curious mind and a fearless spirit. A proud mother of five, Patricia spent her life adventuring with her children—exploring new places, creating memories, and embracing every opportunity to learn something new. She worked for the telephone company in her early years and later signed up for computer classes the moment computers became available, proving once again that she’s always been ahead of her time.

Young at heart and endlessly energetic, Patricia has traveled across North America, Japan, and around the world. For her 87th birthday, she finally went ziplining in Catalina, joyfully declaring, “I’ve wanted to do this since I was 85!”—a line that perfectly captures her bold spirit and contagious enthusiasm. She loves reading, cooking, telling jokes, and playing cribbage or any card game that brings people together. A gifted writer, Patricia has spent decades creating poems and songs that reflect her bright imagination and generous heart.

Above all, Patricia’s greatest joy comes from her family. She is a loving mother who supports her children unconditionally, and a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother who cherishes every new generation. Today, she continues to enjoy life’s simple pleasures while soaking up the sun in Southern California—still curious, still creative, and still inspiring everyone fortunate enough to know her.
